It was a great series. Although Vasilevskiy played great I always wondered how different the series would be if Bishop didn't get injured. His ability to play the puck would have most likely slowed down the Penguins forecheck and helped the Lightning's transition game. It is an interesting "What if" situation. Regardless, the Penguins would have probably still won, they were just that dominant. Would love for a rematch this upcoming season, especially with Drouin possibly flanking Stammer

What if both Crosby and Malkin werent injured in 2011 when the Pens were up 3 games to 1 on the Bolts.... Doesn't really matter now.

Yup, I acknowledged that in my post, it seems like you skipped over that part though...

So now we are seeing actual statistics off the stick or OTS (Off The Stick) stats, can we please put together a comparison against Corsi? Someone who works for the government or has finished all of his/her homework? with the info from these stats you can easily throw together 'actual' or 'real' Corsi events, & from that theyll be a lot more precise with the Stats grown from Corsi.

Just as a dare Analytics guys, throw together some comparisons - 'truth or dare', this dare will provide the truth! (cue the X-Files music.......... )

Hornqvist is not going to carry the puck and with Crosby he shouldn't need to. Hornqvist needs to create space for Crosby like he did on the Cup winner that Letang scored. He created enough havoc by forcing two men to try to move him from the front of the net. Thereby letting Crosby beat Paul Martin cleanly and feed Letang who was unguarded in the circle. That is why he was brought in and he is the best they have at doing that sort of thing.

With the rookie tournament coming up next weekend it really hits home how far Dumoulin has come in the last 12 months. He went from being captain and best player on the ice at a tournament where 90% of the kids playing are never going to amount to anything to be on the top pairing of the cup winning team. Getting lucky with later round draft picks (yes I know he was drafted by Carolina but Shero wanted him and insisted he be part of the Staal deal for a reason) is such an underrated occurrence. There is so much luck and the right place at the right time scenario stuff involved. Now if only we can get this Pouliot, highest pick we've had in 8 years, kid going we would really have something. It would be crazy to have 6 dmen that are legit scoring threats.

I can see it, the 2 teams and maybe the Caps are the class of the conference. I'm seeing our kid Daniel Sprong as being very Drouin like and I can't wait until he's a full time NHL player.

So the call ups did well in the playoffs, Letang is elite, Hornqvist doesn't have the greatest puck carrying ability. All of this information a casual Pens fan already knew without the presentation. This is literally stats for the sake of stats. Hockey is going down the gutter.

I don't see many similarities between Sprong and Drouin. Sprong is a sniper, Drouin is a playmaker.

I also hope that Sprong is far better in his own end than Drouin, and of course I hope Sprong isn't a whiny and selfish player like Drouin.

I feel like Drouin shut the haters up during the playoffs. If he actually needed to cook in the AHL for a while then yes, what he did would have been entitled. But he shut up and put up when called upon in the post season and I was left thinking that he had a point with his grievances.

He didn't shut me up. They didn't send him to Syracuse to work on his shooting or passing. They sent him down to work on his game without the puck.

And he's awful without the puck, and was in the playoffs. The Penguins owned the puck and the Lightning bled shots when he was on the ice.

Not every player is great without the puck. I would actually think more are worse without than with in the NHL. He's still going to be bad ass.
